Journey to the West (1992) -- not yet listed in the HKMDb

How do I submit a completely new entry to the database? There is
a Chang Cheh film that I have that is not listed at all in the HKMDb
under any of its various titles. Here are some details:

Details from my own personal experience and research:

Go West to Subdue Demons (DVD) (China Version) is listed at
YesAsia as PAL without subtitles, but it is actually in NTSC format
and subtitled in Chinese and English with white burned-in titles.
The logo of the DVD company appears at the top left of the screen
about every ten minutes. The movie is letterboxed (not very wide,
but much like in Chang Cheh's other 1987-1993 movies).

As long as you have the Big5 title you should be good to go! You've already got multiple western titles as well as director and some of the cast.

I don't know how to and/or don't have permission to add a new title
to the database, as far as I know.

I'd also like to be able to add character names for Duel at the Supreme
Gate (1968), where currently none of the actors are paired with their
character names. So far, I have:

Zhang Yang: Chee Chun Nam
Kelly Lai Chen: Sun Tai Yong
Sek Kin: Kuan Han Pin

True. I made a mistake. Sun Yuen Fei is the name of the Supreme Gate
Clan's old master, not the name of the actor who portrayed him.

I have since found that it is Wong Ping (2) who played Sun Yuen Fei,
the Supreme Gate Clan's old master

I'll add a portrait or two of Wong Ping (2) as Sun Yuen Fei later today.

It's been removed, and replaced with a scan of my own DVD:
front, back, and opened up flat.

What about this screen capture from Spring Song, taken from the Shenzhen Co.
DVD (called The Young Ones) that shows a watermark for the entire
running time of the film?

Actually, I was going to do that to some of the credits, but I guess I'll upload
screen captures of *all* the credits, as you suggest.

As it is, after looking at the screen captures for the other late-period Chang
Chang films, i.e. Great Shanghai 1937 (1986), Slaughter in Xian (1987), Across
the River (1988), Hidden Hero (1990), and Ninja in Ancient China (1993), I
am starting to match up the faces in Journey to the West.

I have English-subtitled VCDs of Slaughter in Xian (1987), Across the River
(1988), Hidden Hero (1990), and Ninja in Ancient China (1993), and have
an unsubtitled VCD of Dancing Warrior (1985) -- the latter of which is called
Dancing King on the packaging but named The Dancing Warrior on the disc
itself. Compare the HKMD's current screen capture of the film's title from
Ground Zero's Black Belt Theater Vol. 12 DVD with the VCD image, which I
just added at this thread: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=51305

I am not sure whether you want such images to reside in the credits

I have put 41 portraits and 64 screen captures.

Of the 64 screen captures, 24 of them feature the subtitles that went
with the narration at the beginning of the film that explains who the
Monkey King, Monk, Pigsy and Sand are.

3 more captures are the subtitles from when the Monkey King tells his
entourage who Princess Iron Fan, Brother Ox and Princess Jade are.

Another 3 captures are the subtitles that feature the Goddess of Mercy
and Wai An, and introduce his older brother King Cha and younger brother
Nai Cha, who then transforms to engage the Monkey King in a friendly
test of prowess.

What I want to know is, is my use of screen captures to more or less
explain the characters through various narrators a no-no? It's not
something that I intend to do in the future, but since this involves
the Monkey King, I thought it might be helpful. I'll explain why.

When I first saw this film, my familiarity with the lore of the Monkey
King was very limited, so I was lost amidst all the characters. I have
subsequently watched the four 1960's Shaw Brothers Monkey King films --
The Monkey Goes West (1966), Princess Iron Fan (1966), Cave of the
Silken Web (1967), and The Land of Many Perfumes (1968) -- and the 2008
Jackie Chan / Jet Li vehicle The Forbidden Kingdom, and resultingly
have a much better understanding of the characters, to the point where
watching Journey to the West (1991) this second time was far more
enjoyable.
