Unknown Korean Actor (7)'s name is Yeong Seop

I know that people have had a bit of back and forth with the ID-ing of this actor and a couple of others with similar features and acting credits. But I his name is Yeong Seop and all that needs doing now is to correct the name. I will do so in a few days, if there's no objections.

Well. I've made the necessary changes and am going to add some more pictures too, but I did notice an issue. On the Chinese version of the page it is showing the Hanja and Hangul of Kim Ki-hong. I tried to find a way to correct this, but could't see a way. I checked Kim Ki-hong's page too and it has the same issue, displaying Unknown Korean Actor.

Any ideas?

Just a side note, unless there is a real lack of IDs, you want the portrait tag to be on images that focus on the actor or actress's face. This helps people identify them in later movies. In addition, unless the rule has changed, you should only assign one portrait image per film for an actor, unless their appearance changes drastically in the movie.

it was true but now only one appears on the portrait page (even if you check 3 portrait, only one will appears in the portrait tab, but all 3 will show in rotation), so we can add more than one portrait by actor/movie, just don't exagerated... anyway i check all the new images and if something bother me i will reach to you

I did put more images than I normally would, mainly for clarity, but I find that more angles and various facial expressions helps people differentiate between similar looking actors, such Kim Ki-hong. Also because (as far as I can see) he's only been in 4 films, so his gallery was looking a bit empty.

I hope that more pics would help point him out (uncredited) in more films as he's a strange case, he just seems to show up out of nowhere (no previous stunt roles), gets substantial roles (including getting his name on the poster in some cases) in films with established stunt actors, then in the space of a few years...poof, he's gone?! Maybe TV, but finding that kind of info is near impossible

I try to include a part of the upper body in portraits if possible, as I find the neck length and shoulder width help with IDing, but if these aren't suitable for the sites portraits, I have no real issue changing the more expansive images to the attributed tag instead.

Sounds good - also remember to try and correct the aspect ratio as best you can on some. If they appear squished or stretched it can distort the ID.

I'm not a tech guy so correct me if I'm wrong about this, but I think that it's the correct size. I say this because I use a media player called MPV, which "seems" to play vids in their original (or perhaps) best quality size, unlike VLC or Windows Media Player which seem to stretch the image.

I then take a screenshot of the MPV box as best I can, then use Paint3D to crop out unwanted areas and/or crop some of the image to have a neater size ratio e.g. 467x452 crop pieces to get 450x450.

With some vids, such as Secret Ninja, Roaring Tiger, the vid was that strangely small size. Trying it on other players stretches and blurs it.

Am I correct in that this is the best that can be obtained from this vid. Or am I such a noob with tech that there's a simple solution right under my nose?

Not at all! I use VLC mostly, you can change the aspect ratio within that.


When I opened Secret Ninja in VLC, its default view was 4:3, which produced the below distorted image:


Then I go to Video/Aspect Ratio and correct it to 16:9 and get this, which looks normal:


I'd get the screen grab from the 16:9 and color correct as best I could.

But it's the same deal with Secret Ninja (though nowhere near as small). I tried it through VLC using every aspect ratio and none of them look as good to me, VLC always seems pixilated and stretched, here's some screen shot of a few VLC versions, then MPV, see what you think.

I assume that the only way to put images on the forum here is with a url? Gaijin mentioned "imgur", I do have a flickr account that I don't really use anymore, would that suffice if I want to upload pics on this forum sometime in the future?

Flickr may work, but it's really for hosting and displaying your own photography. I would recommend imgur or imgbox . Much easier and user-friendly for uploading and posting direct urls.
