Me and a very knowledgeable acquaintance recently did a deep dive into identifying all the "official members" of the Jackie Chan Stunt Team, as there's been so much confusion over the years as to those who worked on projects with the team and those included in the official listings put out by the JC Stunt Team and Jackie Chan himself.

Using the data collected during this research, I plan to do an over-hall of the entire Jackie Chan Stunt Team page and the pages of team members. It'll take a little time as the "official members" list also updated recently with the introduction of the 9th generation of the team, bringing the new total to a whopping 100 members, with JC himself being removed from the list and now classified as Big Brother.


The updates will include:

Adding all 100 "official members" that have their own HKMDB pages to the JC Team page and providing on their pages (if needed), dates of birth (and death), countries of origin, aliases, and some images (if available).

Some do not have HKMDB pages yet so I will create new pages for them, some of these have not yet worked on projects suitable for the database, but I will create pages for them anyway, as I believe they will have suitable entries in the future as they are working on a new project right now.

The pages of some more recent members (such as James Wang and Leo Li) will need to be merged and un-merged in some cases, but I'll give more details on these when closer to implementing it, as I'm just listing things off the top of my head while writing this.

The removal of Jack Wong Wai-leung and Alex Yip Choi-nam from the JC Stunt Team page, because although they did work with the team on several projects, they aren't listed as becoming "official members".

UPDATE: Sadly Thorsten has revealed himself to be an unethical prick and defamed me publicly, claiming that only he has made any real contribution to researching the JC Team and any other lists are stealing "his" works. So I will no longer be helping him. I will leave the credit here though as despite his lack of ethics, he did do some good research.

It would've been easier if I'd discovered my learned acquaintance Thorsten Boose earlier. I only found his site a few days after I'd already finished the earlier list (consisting of about 75 members), he'd basically done the same thing already, it would've saved me so much time !!! . But I reached out to him as we did have a few bits and pieces to add to each others research, so in the end it worked out for the best.

But credit has to go to Thorsten for bringing the 9th generation update to my attention, he did most of the work there and I simply did a bit of my own research after that, but there wasn't much to add. Finally got round to doing the first step, I got bogged down working on a few related updates to do with Jackie Chan films. But now all the official JC members are on the data base and I updated there basic info where needed.



There are a few things I'd like some help on before I can move onto the next step:

I couldn't add the birth countries of Ken Lo and Temur Mamisashvili, Laos and Georgia respectively. Is there a way to add them?

I have a bios for some team members that I've written and can add to the database. But some already have bios (usually just a line or two), shall I: replace them; keep them but separate them from mine; or incorporate the info into mine (if it's not already included)?

I noticed that some of the English pages included some of the alternate Chinese names (as in Chinese text) under aliases, should I do the same? The same situation for nicknames like: Ah Jik or Mong Cha Cha etc., should I include them too?

Lastly, I have two people that I merged credits for, so now one of their previous pages are empty and can be deleted, I couldn't see a way to do it. But it's the pages for Andy Andreas Nguyen, info now moved to Andy Long Nguyen; and Wang Zhen-wei, info now moved to Zac Wang Zhen-wei.

1) I have added Laos and Georgia. The Locations in the database are in a table I manage. If you (or any other editor) needs a new location added just email me.

2) Alternate Chinese names in Big5 can be placed in Aliases on the English page (as well as the Big5 page). This is still something I need to attend to technically as English Aliases and Big5 Aliases only show up on their respective pages and I need to make sure they properly show up on both. If you encounter any confusion or difficulty in this particular matter, please let me know. I will be looking at the code for this over the next few days.

3) Editors can delete people, but the link isn't easy to find. Click on "Edit Person" on the menu on the left side and it will take you to a menu page that includes a "DELETE THIS PERSON" link.

Incorporating the links to the other team members in the Biography is particularly nice. I need to have a "relations" function built-in to the page that does this more easily. Thanks for being creative with the technical limitations we have!

I've been checking over a few of the stunt team lists for some Jackie Chan films and filling out some missing entries here and there. Mostly it's just a few names, but one of the larger ones was for The Forbidden Kingdom where no cast list had been added. It was a strange one too as not only did it feature the Yuen Clan, mainland stuntmen too; and a few of the JC Team but these were credited under "Assistant to Jackie Chan" (along with a few more people), so for them I put them as "Action Team" to separate them from the other stuntmen, I think this is more appropriate as it describes their role better, but there was also no "Assistant to Jackie Chan" crew option.

Finally got around to updating these. A bunch more faces to go with the names that hadn't been ID'd yet, except maybe the JCST themselves , it took some sleuthing I tell ya and a lot of looking over bts photos (with some drastically varying quality) again and again until my eyes practically dropped out . And with several JC films on the way, hopefully there'll be some pics of the newest members soon too.

It seems that I hadn't mirrored earlier updates I'd made with my blog here, so there's some older ID's I did too.

Obviously the quality isn't the best for some (though I reckon all are at least decent), but a lot of pics were made myself by finding faces in behind the scenes photos and photo shoots. Some I got by taking screenshots of interviews, bts footage, publicity events etc. All while avoiding using people's FB pics, not that I'm against it if they're public, but if I can avoid that, I will. But overall I'm satisfied with what I've got and hopefully it will be of interest to fans, but also useful to try and ID some in films that they haven't yet, having a face to go with will be a great help

Also, after already uploading of some pics of the kid JCST members from The Karate Kid [2010] I've added some adult pics of them too.

Straight after I'd done my latest update for the JCST (a few days ago ), I did another sleuthing session for all the missing (which I do periodically) and I managed to ID a whopping 8 extra members, the first 5 of which were also Long Yun Troupe members too. It's been a good week for the JCST, I'm quite pleased with my work

So now, out of the full 100, there remains only 6 to ID, one of which I might know but not 100% on him yet.

Well, I've finally decided to do it. I'm going to add a list of the other people known to have been part of the JCST at some point, but are not considered “official members”. What the exact parameters are for becoming an “official member” are unclear and those considered “official members” have also changed over the years. Many of them will be familiar to JC fans, including those that many were shocked didn't make the “official members” list.

Most of these I'd already added “He (or She) worked with the Jackie Chan Stunt Team.” to their bio with a hyperlink to the JCST, which some of you have probably seen. But not done the opposite way around, I will update this.

I was waiting until I had a bit more information on some of the newer members, as I hadn't watched many of the newer JC films and I wanted to be sure. Plus if I'm honest, I was a bit burned out on the subject after doing so much work on it. Funnily enough, it took getting burnt out on something else to move my attention back to adding these names.

Some of them I don't have usable pics for yet. I will eventually get around to trying to spot them either on screen or behind the scenes. So for now the name list will do for the rest.

I'm still not sure how to label them though, “unofficial” “associate” members? I'm not sure if “temporary” fits, because technically they're all temporary and some of these might have actually done more JC films than “official” members

I'm back!!! Just for a moment though as I've still not taken my break properly

I did manage to play a few hours of Yakuza 5 but then I decided that while my head was clear form thinking about my latest projects, I should do something that I'd been putting off for a long time.

During my research the past few years, I'd sometimes come across some blogs and other web pages that weren't useful to the task at hand, but did contain potentially useful info or even new leads. But as I was busy at the time I had to leave them temporarily and left as a tab in whichever browser I was using. I ended up with about 20-30 tabs in each browser waiting to be seen to. It was a mess

Well, I've spent the last two weeks working through all of those tabs and I'm finally at a point where I think I've gained all the usefulness from them that I can. It's quite a relief and should help me concentrate better on my latest projects.

I'm still going to take a proper break now, where I'm actually relaxing rather than researching. But this again, might put me out of action for a few weeks. So to tide things over, I've decided to move forward the update I was going to use as my triumphant return


I can finally say I've done it. I've ID'd the entire “JCST official members” at long last. It's been a long road since being a lil kid with a scrap of paper, scribbling down the names of the JCST I heard from the great Bey's HKL audio commentaries. LOL memories.

As is typical in my life, I had just finished an update on the JCST about two weeks prior, before the JCST go ahead release a short vid for JC's birthday that featured most of the missing faces from the list Annoying as the timing was, it did spurn me on to try again to find copies (no matter how crappy) of the films that feature Ma Yong-li, to finally put a face to the name. Fortunately I managed to find all the films this time and was successful in my ID quest.

It seems James Wang was not only uncredited as an actor in Ride On, but also his assistant action director credit was attributed to Wang Ke (4), which is understandable, as Wang Ke is one of his aliases. But on further inspection it seems clear that Wang Ke (4)'s credits for Metallic Attraction: Kungfu Cyborg [2009] and Firestorm [2013] belong to James Wang too. The only one I was unsure of was Wings Over Everest [2019], as I didn't notice a connection to the JCST, so I've left the credit for Wang Ke (4) and not merged that credit.

I'd miss-ID'd Ma Teng-fei in one of my photos of him thanks to an ambiguous name placement. I had been a bit suspicious of it, but just thought the beard was hiding his features So I've removed it (as Harlock had already provided a good pic of this other man in a film) and put up true pics Ma Teng-fei from The White Storm 3: Heaven or Hell [2023].
