A hong kong movie

Dear all,
This is a long shot. I cant read or write chinese but I am chinese and I speak cantonese and mandarin. I saw this hong kong show a year ago. It is low cost and partially funny. I do not know any names of actors in the show and I do not knw the name of the show too. But i can roughly describe the show.

It is this small town on a small island. They started off with this police guy who is a little plump and cannot fit into his uniform at all so he wears his pyjamas to work as his home is just above his office. He likes to sing this song, or at least i think he sings this song or was it the theme of the song? i cant recall but it goes like 'ji mo nan nai..ji mo nan nai..' which means lonesome hard to coupe with (direct translation)...The story builds up about this person who got killed and they were going in circles looking for the muderer within the town. If anyone knows the name of this show or had any leads, it would be helpful. thanks!!

Quite pleasant movie, although Michael Wong can be a bit much at times.

If I had to make a list of "Top Ten Hong Kong Movies You Probably Haven't Seen," THE CASE OF THE COLD FISH would definitely be in there. It's one of the most underrated movies of the past 20 years. I actually found Michael Wong to be perfectly utilized in this film - for once! - because the story needed an "outsider" who could bristle at the seeming incompetence of the local constabulatory. And Michael Chow and Shing Fui-on made ideal island cops. In fact, this is one of those Hong Kong movies that initially made me think the story had been lifted from an American movie of some kind, since the writing seemed so above-average for such a seemingly modest-budgeted picture, and everything built to a very satisfying conclusion. The longer it ran, though, I really got wrapped up in the "Tai-O" flavour of the locale, and came to the conclusion that this kind of movie could only be written with a place like that in mind. Glad to see others like it, too!

No, it's a tale of a big town cop (Michael Wong) who gets his vacation cut short when a corpse is discovered in a small rural town where life goes at it's own pace and noone is in any hurry, not even the small town police headed by Michael Chow seems in a big hurry to solve it.
It's a quite entertaining and good movie, but as I've mentioned earlier, Michael Wong can get a bit to much at times when he for some reason have to show off his spoken english.

indeed a surprise and if you want a film where Wong gladly allows his English and character being mocked, this is it. Good sport.
