Sunshine Cop

Postby Casey » Sun Jan 23, 2005 5:43 pm

I found this title at Sensasian, and can't match it up with any other of Francis' films made in 1996.

Image

Other stars are: Lau Ching Wan, Christine Ng, Christy Chung

Is "Sunshine Cop" an alternate title?

Thanks!

First of all, thank you once again, calros, for answering my questions.

And now, another one...

Can anyone identify what these pictures are from?

thanks and another question

Postby Casey » Thu Jan 27, 2005 7:57 pm

Thanks, calros, for that Women from Mars answer. And, thanks, to to Loulou, for the link to the Hong King Cinemagic site. Loved the War Named Desire gallery - it's one of my favorite Francis film. Recommend it highly!!

Now for the next question....Wonder Girlfriend (1993)???

This movie, along with My Dad is a Jerk are listed on Francis' filmography on the Tai Seng The Bride with White Hair DVD. Confirmed "Dad" on the Chinese Movie Database*, but couldn't match up Wonder Girlfriend. Anyone have any idea?

By the way, Francis' performance in The Bride with White Hair was mesmerizing. No one can do the acting that man can do with just his eyes.

"Wonder Girlfriend" (1993) is a "missing movie" in our Db.

According to WebPAC, Francis does not appear in it.

Starring Simon Loui, Jacqueline Law, Lee Yee Ha and Lo Hoi Pang.

Changed the english title of "Crazy N' the City" in our Db. 8)

Thanks Carlos, by the way me found this particular website and was wondering if anyone could read this langauage or even translate it would be great - http://www.matichon.co.th/youth/youth.p ... 147&show=1

Seems to be very quiet on the front for Francis at this moment, wondering what he's doing, seems to have disappeared from the scene completely...

Emmanuel, I recall reading recently that Francis couldn't attend all of the Himalya Singh promotions because he was filming in China.

"Bunny" keeps track of most of the online articles about Francis. Check out her posts here:

Enjoy!!

translation site

Postby Casey » Tue Feb 01, 2005 1:02 pm

Emmanuel, I have the best luck translating these web pages with AltaVista. You might want to try both the Simplified and Traditional Chinese to English options.

http://world.altavista.com/tr

Google also has a Beta translating service for Simplified Chinese:

http://www.google.com/language_tools

Hope this helps.

Does anyone know what all these pictures of Francis Ng and Rosamund Kwan relate to?

They are talking about the new movie "Machining Allowance" (sorry I think its literal title does not sound very well in english) directed by Kong Ching, starring Rosamund, Francis and new talent Wallace Huo.

This film is so new that is not in our Db yet.

Thanks, calros, for find that other site. My own research has found a page where Francis discusses his character, "Shanghai man":

http://ent.sina.com.cn/m/c/2004-06-29/1126430119.html

Maybe one of the administrators who reads Chinese can add this film to the database so the rest of us can learn more. If he/she needs more information here is a website with many pertinent links:

To add this film and "The Secret" to the Db we need the english title (not the literal english translation if the title), so I'm afraid we will have to wait a few months more. :(

Also, here's a link for a Google search on the title and Francis' name using the Chinese ideograms:

Congratulations for your "detective work"!!!!!

I think "Hands in the Hair" is only the "working title" (this film appears without title in this complete japanese page of Francis' latest works http://francisng.nobody.jp/fraworks.html ), but I added it anyway

Bunny's site* shows 6 AM in Francis' film credits. Happened to find a set of lobby cards, and it sure looks like him in the middle right pic:

That's not exactly correct. Bunny says Francis MAYBE does a cameo in this film. :?

lovely pics

Found this site today. The pictures from January relating to a Himalya Singh promotion and The Secret blessing ceremony are particularly appealing.

calros, thanks for the information on The Secret. Wonder where Bunny got her information on Francis' possible cameo in 6 AM....

Edit to add:

The Secret is directed by Li Hong, and co-stars Josie Ho, right? That's all I've been able to decipher so far.

Hey!!!!

I did not say nothing about Josie Ho!!!!!

The female star of "The Secret" is pop singer Tian Yuan (田原) (who starred "Butterfly" with Josie).

I think "The Secret" is scheduled to be released at the end of February...

faulty research

Postby Casey » Mon Feb 07, 2005 12:11 pm

calros, that error on Josie Ho is due to my poor research. I wasn't thorough enough.

Since I'm logged in, might as well do something constructive...like post a picture for my fellow fans.

another question

Postby Casey » Thu Feb 10, 2005 12:37 am

The Tai Seng site* lists "Ng Chun Yu" as one of the stars of Top Borrower (1997). Have not be able to corroborate it through 15 minutes of Googling.

A mistake on Tai Seng's part? Or a small role/came by Francis?

According to WebPAC, Francis does not appear in the credits of that movie. I think it is only a mistake of Tai Seng. :?
