Dragon from Shaolin / Silberfaust der Shaolin ???

Postby Easternpaul » Thu Jul 07, 2005 12:34 pm

Hi there!
I just found this nice forum in the web. I assume you are real experienced in classic kungfu movies.
So maybe someone can help me with my problem:
I'm seriously looking for any further information (alternative titel etc.) about the movie "Die Silberfaust der Shaolin" aka "Dragon from Shaolin". I just found few piece of information at the German online-cinema-forum OFDB:

http://www.ofdb.de/view.php?page=film&fid=6405

but no further information elsewhere in the world wide web.

So I would be really really happy, if you could help me!!

Thanks a lot!!
Best wishes, Easternpaul

From German to German - Paul:

I don't trust that OMDB very much cause it's full of mistakes some time ago and that's why I never came back after some disaapointments.
Looks like all they have is the credits taken from the cinema poster which need not to be the real credits to my experience. (I could show lots of german posters with wrong names or names from actors stolen from other movies) I am pretty sure that this is an korean production which maybe is not listed in the HKMDB. Tommy KIM (Director) KIM is the korean Name par excellance - like German "Müller" (or even more)
You should browse the korean movie data base which is difficult cause
the names might be fake. I can provide You scans of 10 lobby cards which show no familiar HK or taiwan actor face (I guess)

Hallo Heinz!!
Thanks a lot for your information!
Indeed OFDB isn't very reliable especially concerning rare movies... :?
I found some information about Li Ying Ying and Bruce Cheung, but no further info about any other person involved in this movie.
Maybe the director's name Timmy Kim is just another alias of Godfrey Ho ??
Oh: I just got the information that in Germany the movie was also released as "Todesfäuste der Shaolin" (but I can't find anything about this, too) :(

I'm really glad about any piece of information!!!
Thanks a lot!!

Dragon from Shaolin

Postby Bruce » Fri Jul 08, 2005 3:20 pm

I have been told that "Dragon from Shaolin" is Korean, and is this film in the Korean Film Archive:
http://www.koreafilm.or.kr/english/db_d ... taid=03243

One of other two actors listed there is Nam Chung-Il, who is also in the HKMDB at
http://www.hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mht ... ay_set=eng

The lead actor is not in any other films at the KFA, so I'm not sure who he is without seeing the film.

Hi Bruce!!
Yeah!!! That's exactly the movie I requested!!!
Thanks a lot for your information and the link!!
According to the www.ofdb.de database the lead actor (who has the pseudonym Richard Kong) also appears in this movie:
http://www.ofdb.de/view.php?page=film&fid=33523
EAGLE VS. SILVERFOX, which seems to be this one:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0165745/ (Bicheongwon)

Maybe you know the actor??

Thanks a lot!

"Richard Kong"?

Postby Bruce » Fri Jul 08, 2005 4:17 pm

Most of the English cast names in those Korean films which were re-released by Godfrey Ho, are fake names. Just because somebody copied them into the IMDB doesn't mean anything.

The star of Eagle vs. Silver Fox is Kwak Mu Seong, who is in the HKMDB at
http://www.hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mht ... ay_set=eng
but I don't know if he is the same person as "Richard Kong".

I just made some screenshots of the main characters. Some characters appear with several looks due to the story which plays within a time of at least 20 years...

This is the movie's hero:

Hi MrBooth!
The Screenshots are taken from a preview-DVD from the German Label NEW ENTERTAINMENT WORLD which will release the DVD in the end of July / beginning of August 2005.
I don't know exactly the subtitle options but I think the movie will have German and English language. Maybe I can ask for details and post them here. 8)
Best wishes, Easternpaul.
