Bewitched Area of Thousand Years

Postby Jean-Claude Michel » Sun Oct 30, 2005 10:39 pm

I have a video of this rare HK horror movie, and the only English credit is the title itself. Although the film is subtitled in English, there is no transcription of the cast and crew's names, so I even don't know who directed this thing ! the date itself is unknown...
Generally speaking, we have more informations on HK movies than, say, Thai movies (especially the older ones). But in this case, I was unable, in spite of extensive search through the web, to put a name on anybody in the cast, or on the director... If anybody could help...

Some sources (video dealers who have this title for sale) mention 1991, without any other details. The English title, however, is accurate, as it was really composed under the Chinese title, and it was not "video-generated". As the movie is fortunately subtitled in English, I have the names of the characters in the movie: Shu Mei, Chou Long, Wu Saka, Pai Shao Jeh, Shao Feng, Yen Zen, Mr. Goo, and Shu Nah - but NOT the actor's names - alas.
The story involves people which are bitten by a snake and transforms into hideous monsters, they kill and rape other people...

How to thank you ??? :D

I can now put a name on the director of this movie - and the actors as well...
It's a problem with some Asian titles, when a transcription is not given by usual sources, or the prints. One of the solutions would be to add a little bonus in these DVDs, with all the credits "transcribted"...
Of course, you also can learn the language, but I'm not interested only in Chinese or Asian movies, I'm interested in Fantasy, Horror, and SF films (and also Mythologicals) made from 1895 to now in EVERY country of this Earth, so you can imagine the number of languages...

For Hoppingghost:
This is before all a horror film: the spirit of an evil snake-devil possesses people who enter the bewitched area - turning them into snake monsters who bite and even rape unsuspecting humans.
You can find this tape (perhaps now on DVD-R ?) in several catalogues, including Video Search of Miami, I think.

No, my own copy isn't subtitled, and is cropped, so it must be the same. I found an interview of the guy who owns "Mondo Macabro" and he told that he tried to locate this film in HK, for a relase in the MM collection, in scope and subtitled, but apparently was unable to find the owners of this movie. It could, of course, have been released in other Asian countries, on VHS, VCD, etc. and in Scope - but under an unidentifiable title (for us)...

YES Mine is cropped also shucks, The MM release of "MYSTICS IN BALI" was great and I had been searching for that film for years.

A friend of mine was in Malysia some years ago. In Kuala Lumpur, he found many VCDs of Indonesian horror flicks, most of them are in my collection now. But most are cropped, and sometimes, vital image information is missing not only on the sides, but above and below as well. These films are in their original language, not subtitled (as Indonesian and Malaysian are almost the same).
To the other hand, some Malaysian movies, although much older, like the "Pontianak" series, were in very good shape...
