Personally, I think Yuen has developed a knack for glossy but imminently watchable junk over the past few years and while eye-rolling seems to be a prerequisite to watching speedy silliness like THE TRANSPORTER, SO CLOSE, ENTER THE EAGLES and AVENGING FIST, DOA looks set to roll them right out of their sockets. Looks like he's the sole director on this one, too. Nice. Decent supporting cast too: Robin Shou, Collin Chou, Eric Roberts, Kane Kosugi. And the girls don't look to bad, either.
I've only ever seen the games being played by others who are actually capable of such things, and was rather impressed with the beach volleyball edition that a friend showed me (for all the obvious reasons), and the film, at least judging from this trailer, certainly captures the cheesecake appeal of the games on what appears to be a decent budget.
I think I might have to check this one out.

One caveat: it's a Weinstein film, but since it's largely American in origin, I suspect it won't sit on the shelf. And with J.F. Lawton on board as one of the writers, we can rest assured they didn't need Bey Logan to come in an punch up the dialogue.
