Time to reveal your least favorites

I'm just wondering whom in HK cinema y'all REALLY hate, including actors, actresses, directors, choreographers, etc.<br><br>Here are some I really can't stand: David Chiang, Bruce Lee, Shu Qi, Leon Lai, and sometimes Jackie Chan (although my opinion of him has changed drastically after seen DM II).<br><br>Even my favorite actor, Adam Cheng, sucks big time in movies (good thing he excells on TV). So far I haven't seen anything from him in Mandarin, and his martial arts skill fell sharply beyond what I was used to from him.<br><br>

As soon as I announced my not liking Bruce, I ancipated some responses. Well, my opinion of him has been based on American movies he made. Basically, the way he screams after kicking or punching somebody makes me wanna puke, and his whole style is unbearable to me. The only credit I, and anyone else, must give him is, of course, Bruce Lee being the first Chinese to gain ground in America and thus opening the eyes of Americans to the Chinese culture. Other than that, I simply hate the guy and his style.<br><br>Maybe if I saw some of his Chinese movies in Chinese language...<br><br>

I think Adam Cheng retired from movie making in 1994. Some of his last movies were Drunken Master III, New Legend of Shaolin and Shaolin Popey II. I believe he is still working on some TV series, which is something he has been known for.<br><br>

the horrible english dub is one of the worst things to occur in HK cinema. The more recent dubs have been better (i.e. Heroic Trio, Bride With White Hair), but the ones dubbed on old school films are trashcan worthy. And just like you, I have come to dislike many movies simply because the dub did not work. The difference between a film in original Chinese language and one dubbed in English is larger than life. Sometimes I smile just hearing the original track.<br><br>I'm still wondering what kind of people worked on the English dubs. They're the worst of the worst, yet they florished in early dubbings.<br><br>

I don't really hate Jackie Chan any more, although I never liked him and still don't. I should say I didn't like his movies because the crime/police genre just does not appeal to me. So Jackie is all right with me now.<br><br>But Bruce Lee definitely is NOT. He is one of the most annoying, unlikable actors I've ever seen. I do respect him for his talent and the positive impact he brought about; I just don't agree with his style.<br><br>

I never read the subtitles unless the movie is in Cantonese or some other strange dialect. I always try to obtain Mandarin versions if possible, since it is my mother tongue.<br><br>You know what would probably help on English dubbed versions is placing English subtitles (equal treatment) on bottom. Half of the time when I watch a dubbed movie, I have no clue what's said. It's not much better than watching something in Spanish or Cantonese, of which I understand little

Like others posted here I am surprised by Bruce Lee being on some of your lists. Well to each their own. As for me I think Michael Wong is the worst actor I have ever seen. Yet I try to see every movie of his as he is so bad that I find it comical. The only thing I can think of that I abhor is the Hopping Vampire genre of films. I could never understand their appeal among the masses.<br><br>
