Postby Loulou » Wed May 24, 2006 2:29 pm

We're looking for movies with "Beggar So" to do the most complete filmography about this character. Do you know some one ?

Like :

- Drunken Master
- Heroes among Heroes
- Dance of the drunk mantis
- Ten Tigers from Kwantung
- King of beggars

Thanks

Beggar So (= So Hat Yi) in chinese is 蘇乞兒

If you search 蘇乞兒 in the chinese display of the HKMDB you will find more movies:

少年蘇乞兒 / Young Vagabond (1985)
醉俠蘇乞兒 / The Story of Drunken Master (1979)
蘇乞兒 / A Beggar Named Su (1953)
蘇乞兒復仇記 / Revenge of Beggar Named Su (1953)

Sorry I forgot to say that the first movies of "Beggar So" were 3 not 2. The second film is called "The Swordsman and the Beauty"

http://ipac.hkfa.lcsd.gov.hk/ipac20/ipa ... 28@!0&ri=2

In the old movies of Wong Fei-Hung (from the end of 40s to the beginning of 60s) Beggar So was usually played by Liu Chi-Wai, who also played So in other movies, "Crossing Yuanyang River By Night" (1949), "Battle in Lotus Valley" (1952), "Champion Lion Dancer Leung Foon's Big Fight at Tiger Valley" (1958) etc.

Beggar So

Postby Yves » Sun Jun 25, 2006 1:03 pm

Hello this is Yves.

I just wanted to personnaly thanks Calros for the info he provided us with.

I've also created a file on actor Liu Chi-wai who was not in our database until now. I've taken the liberty of borrowing the HKMDB photo of him though as it's the only one that I know of. We shall remove it immediatly if any HKMDB editor disagre with it's use. I.apologize for not having ask first.

Sorry I forgot to say that the first movies of "Beggar So" were 3 not 2. The second film is called "The Swordsman and the Beauty"

Liu Chi-wai, is credited in The Swordsman and The BEauty but not in the two other Better So movies. Calros do you know if it was him thatplayed the Beggar in those set of movies or it was Lam Kau who is credited as the male lead on all three movie.

Also who played Beggar So in Young Vagabond Is it also a young Beggar So story?

Thank you very much for any new infos you might provide me with and those you've have already given

Godspeed

Yves.

Sorry Mr. Yves but I think you should send a PM to Mr. Ryan or Mr. Guilao before borrowing pictures from our DB.

內容簡介:
The union of So Cho-bun and Lee Yun-lin is obstructed by the long-standing feud between the So and the Lee clans. When Lee's father learns of their affair, he sends some thugs to beat So up and betroths Lee to someone else. So becomes disfigured as a result of the beating and resolves to roam the world. Learning the martial arts from the boxer Ma Hung, So goes on to seek justice for the suppressed. (Continued in Part Two.)

But I never said Liu played Better (Beggar) So in these movies. I only said Liu played So in the first Wong Fei-Hung movies.

I have not seen "Young Vagabond" but the original chinese title of this movie means "Young Beggar So" and if you look at our poster [please do not borrow it without the permission of Mr. Ryan or Mr. Guilao] you will know who played So.

Well it's none other than Gordon Liu himselfé More small modifications to bring to my piece.

Thanks you for the info and again sorry for having taken with properly asking.
