Simon Tam (Andy Lau) is Private Detective Simon Tam, a very righteous and brillant detective. His master is very superstitious and has decreed him to work for free for 3 years 8 months. At the beginning of this movie, it has been 3 years 7 months and 28 days since Simon has last gotten paid for investigating a case. He helps investigate all kinds of cases for free, ranging from a woman with a missing daughter to giving scientific evidence advice to a barrister (lawyer).

His somewhat gay assistant Joe (Simon Lui) jumps the gun by a day and accepts, for $1 million dollars advance down payment, a case involving missing money. However, the next day, the client mysteriously dies. However, Simon, in his righteous manner, decides to find the money for the deceased person's wife (Rosamund Kwan). Later on we find out that 1 billion dollars is what is missing, and that this is dirty triad money. The resulting hunt and chase for the missing money is wild and wacky...

Not really that good of a movie, but nevertheless fairly entertaining. Good for quite a few laughs.

Dull "comedy", with Lau as a City Hunter-like detective. Avoid.
