| Huang Ying (Yellow Hawk), real name Wong Hoi Ming (Huang Hai Ming), born in Peking but educated in Hong Kong, was a popular writer specialized in knight-errant and ghost novels, being his most famous work "Shen Sheng Yi" (lit. Clothes of Victory, also known as "The Roving Swordsman"). He also worked as TV screenwriter from 1979 and finally debuted as film screenwriter with The Loot and The Sword (both from 1980). Main novels: Evil Spirit Knife, Silver Wolf, Skeleton Murderer, Stolen Goods, Phoenix Plunders, Wind and Thunder, Lovesickness Madame, Wind and Cloud 17 Swords, The Dead Great Wild Goose, Famous Sword, Monster Soul, Blood Bat, Jade Dragonfly, 13 Murderers, Portrait in Crystal and so on. Some of them have been converted into movies, too. Chor Yuen was the director who adapted more novels by him, as Bat Without Wings (1980), The Black Lizard (1981), The Roving Swordsman, The Enchantress (both from 1983)...
Huang also produced and directed a few films in the mid-80s, and adapted into movies novels by other reputed authors, as Jin Yong.
Died of a stroke in 1991 at age 35. |
