If nobody objects, I plan to change the following movies' years to the ones specified, usually the year before their release in Hong Kong. This is based on their theatrical releases in Singapore.

1983 is the last possible production year of Toothless Vampires, not releasing. Lou Chun Ku at the time is still a Shaw Contracted Director. (I swapped his surname in database from Liu to Lou btw.) I suggest it's direct-to-video release, Discovered by Home Video company in 1987. I propose to revert to the 1987 release date as usual.

has passed away end of 1977 already and it seems unlikly they postphoned the release for 4 years

Thanks for the interesting info. I suppose that means the release was still delayed somewhat, but not as much. As I was typing this post I realized that this might have opened another can of worms. Zen Kwun Do Strikes in Paris opened in 1979 in the US and in Singapore. The theatrical run and box office data we have in the DB currently refers to a movie called Kung Fu Leung Strikes Emmanuelle, and there appears to be some confusion over whether this is actually Zen Kwun Do Strikes in Paris or not: viewtopic.php?t=45430
It doesn't look like a definite conclusion was reached. Maybe the discussion should be reopened.

KUNG FU LEUNG STRIKES EMANUELLE is the another cut of ZEN KWUN DO
IN PARIS, most probably for Hong Kong and with a different title for that
market, as the VHS was released with that title by Mei Ah in Hong Kong.

There are different cuts around ... Spanish, German, Dutch VHS,
I don' t remember all the differences and have not really checked
(but wanted to years ago), but of course with sex there are differences.

If you would compile all scenes, the movie would last at least 100 min.
and more.

So, of course, this movie should remain one entry, and commented
about different versions.

I had done a post to this (Bob?) why we are now setting back movies
and not just leaving them with their earliest release dates. – Especially
as we had the exact discussion about that rule, and me opposing on how
it is practised with the release dates being the most decisive criteria.

Wasn't it you, yukabacera, pleading for not let the year of shooting
being of any relevance? And now many movies are set one year earlier
than its release dates – which I TOTALLY support!

But what did I get wrong in our discussion before?

As I commented earlier, ALL MEN ARE BROTHERS should have
1971–73 in brackets, but this technically doesn' t work to put in a hyphen.

Alright, I fould some slight modification in the Editors' rules
about any earliest release date whatever country it may be.

So, as you said, you are referring to Singapore
and earlier release dates there.

I believe you as an expert, but:
I would appreciate, again, the highest form of transparency
(to make others not wonder about entries some day)

- be it with a simple clue in a comment like "released in Singapore one year earlier"

- be it with an exact theatrical release date

- be it with an hint to a release list printed somewhere

- or just with uploaded proof like a flyer or a poster with the date on it

(I think all these flyers and posters with dates are from Singapore, but I am not
an expert in which countries these posters are from, as these markets and languages,
forgive me, are far, far away from me ... but I think of it as being Singapore ... e.g.

If there would be some specification by the "be-it"s I imagined above,
an entry could be easily tracked down for its reason ... for anyone, which,
in my opinion, should be always displayed here in the database.

Regarding this - I found this in the forums:

On-screen copyright year is shown in roman numbers and actually lists one year AFTER the release. That means, if the movie was made and released in 1985, on-screen year will be MCMLXXXVI (1986). Exceptions - the first cut-and-paste movies ("Mission thunderbolt" and "Majestic thunderbolt")

I trust Teddy Wong's knowledge and expertise on IFD, but this seems strange to me - how is the year of 'release' actually determined? But of course, everything is strange in the world of IFD "movies", so I will leave the year the way it is for now. I would like to hear what other people have to say, though.
